Security staff comes from all over the country, it’s important to have them verified: Bhaskar Reddy, President, APSA (Telangana and Andhra Pradesh)
In a world that’s transforming every single day, it is only obvious that all the industries around us are undergoing several changes too. And even as this change happens, the private security industry, which aids several sectors in their functioning, also works accordingly to keep up the pace with them. And to get a better idea of all that’s happening in this industry, we caught up with C Bhaskar Reddy, President, APSA (Association of Private Security Agencies) of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of the association’s partnership with BetterPlace. Here are the excerpts of the insights he gave us.
Security Sector far more organised now
Mr Reddy, who knows the industry inside out with an experience of three decades, when asked about how he has seen things evolve over the years, said, “Private security sector is far more organised than how it used to be earlier. For example, now there’s a PSARA (Private Security Agencies Regulation Act) in place, which helps frame proper guidelines for the security services industries and the agencies need to adhere to them. So that helps organise the sector as a whole all over the country.”
Government doing its bit for the security industry
Talking about training and skilling of the security staff, Mr Reddy also said that the government is also putting efforts for the better. “The government is also lending its support to us through bodies like NSDC (National Skill Development Council). They are giving a lot of priority to the private security industry and working towards the progress,” he told us.
Security staff equipped with technology to keep up with digitisation
Talking about skilling, he also said how the industry is keeping pace with digitisation all around. “Security personnel is employed across various sectors right from schools to malls, and each industry demands a different skill set from the staff. There are drills and surprise visits organised at regular intervals, apart from seminars and workshops to educate them. Besides that, the security staff is also equipped with the latest gadgets to match steps with current technology.”
We picked BetterPlace after a reference check all across India
Talking about partnering with BetterPlace, Mr Reddy said that he was happy to say that it was a step in the right direction. He told us, “We signed up with BetterPlace after reference checking with security agencies in various states all across India. We had been looking for almost a year and once we were 100% satisfied with the results, we entered into this agreement with BetterPlace. I strongly feel that since the staff comes from all over the country, it’s very important to have them verified before hiring to be absolutely sure. Also, now our clients, ie, the primary employers too are keen on having their staff verified once they came to know about it. We have mandated 100% verified staff to all our members across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and are looking forward to this association.”
