10 Ways to Reduce Attrition in Blue Collar Jobs

It is no secret that the attrition rates in blue collar jobs is very high. The typical churn is anywhere from 30 to 100 percent (%) depending on the type of the job and location. The fact that there is a big gap between the demand and supply is difficult to digest given that we have a population of 1.2 Billion and there is a good % without jobs. The demand is for skilled labour and this is where there is a shortage. It is not surprising that sometimes people are willing to change jobs for a few rupees more. Every time you need to replace an employee, there is a cost in terms of lost productivity, and hiring costs. The higher the churn, the higher the operation costs, hence reduction in margins and profits.

So how could you reduce attrition ? How could you make your blue collar employees or contract workers to stick on for longer duration ?
